CHILDREN’S LITURGY of THE WORD

. . . meets at 10.00 every Sunday Morning in term time.

Note we shan't gather on 10th May or 14th June.

* Parents are reminded that this facility at 10am Mass is NOT a Playgroup where kiddies can go beserk ! In a simple form, the children hear the Word of God and pray… So, Mums & Dads, if your little ones are in ‘kamakaze’ mode, you are welcome to accompany them, to maintain decorum. The Leaders have enough to cope with.

* The Children’s Liturgy Group is for little ones who have NOT yet made their First Communion. Those who have already made their Communion should remain in Church.

* Thank you very much to Young Adults who assist. Anyone who would like to assist or lead is welcome to do so….once the necessary Child protection checks are carried out, of course.

In common with many other parishes, we are most fortunate in have a gallant band of parents who strive to help our children by giving them the Sunday Gospel message in a simple format. Some of our five volunteers have been involved for 20 years!

Sometimes the Gospel story is simply read or acted out, and the children are helped to see the theme arising out of the Gospel, and learn to apply it to their lives. There is usually time for silent prayer, for intercessions, and perhaps making a banner or poster to highlight their food for thought.

Primarily for those of school age, younger siblings are always welcome as long as parents are willing to oversee their offspring.; they learn a lot, and love being with the older children.

The group leaders have from time to time been assisted by committed teenagers. This service has counted towards their Duke of Edinburgh Award.

POLICE CHECKS
Mums & dads willing to give a helping hand at OLSM school are very welcome. However, it is required that you undergo a CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) Check. This is an essential requirement for all schools. Forms can be obtained from the School Office. Please don’t let this requirement stifle your good intentions!
